At Field & Main Bank, your security is our top priority. Scammers use various techniques, but the warning signs are consistent. Be cautious if you:
- Receive unexpected contact via phone, email, text, direct message, or pop-up asking for personal information or money.
Never click links or download attachments from unknown sources. Field & Main Bank will never ask for your personal or account information this way.
- Feel pressured to act immediately by alarming messages or calls.
Scammers may impersonate familiar organizations like Field & Main Bank, claiming urgent issues. Verify the identity and legitimacy before taking any action.
- Are asked to pay using unusual methods like gift cards, bitcoin, prepaid debit cards, or digital currency, including Zelle.
Field & Main Bank will never request you to transfer money to anyone, including yourself, to resolve fraud.
- Are asked to provide personal or account details, such as verification codes, bank account numbers, or PINs.
When in doubt, don’t give it out. Field & Main Bank will never ask for an account authorization code this way.
- Are offered free products or ‘get rich quick’ opportunities that seem too good to be true.
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Never cash a check for someone you don’t know.
- Receive a request from a vendor to change the payment method or send money to a different address or bank account.
Always call the vendor or your direct contact to verify such requests. Do not respond to the email or call the number listed, as it could be compromised and you might be contacting the hackers instead of the vendor.
