Field & Main employees only have access to your information for conducting legitimate business purposes, and they’re trained to respect your privacy and safeguard your personal information.

Field & Main will never contact customers via email, phone or mail to request or verify security information, passwords, personal identification numbers, etc. Any such attempt to collect or confirm information is fraudulent. If this happens to you, please notify Field & Main immediately.

Here are some ways you can keep your accounts safe and prevent identity theft:

  • Do not share your Online Banking Identification Number or PIN with anyone. If you feel that someone is compromising your online information, please contact Field & Main immediately.
  • Always keep the PIN associated with any card separate from the card itself. Do not select a PIN that can easily be guessed by someone who has other identifying information about you, such as birth date or Social Security number.
  • Beware of fraudulent emails or websites that appear to be from Field & Main or other legitimate sites. Posing as a trusted site to gain your personal information is known as "phishing.” Never click on unverified links in emails, pop-up ads or on other unknown sites. These emails and links may ask for personal information or redirect you to illegitimate sites that look like Field & Main's site or appear to have the URL address in the browser address bar. Always type www.fieldandmain.com directly into the browser address bar.
  • Keep a list of all your credit card numbers and other account information, complete with expiration dates and telephone numbers of the institutions that issue the cards or maintain the accounts. This way, you can notify the appropriate institutions promptly in the event you become an identity theft victim.
  • Beware of incoming phone calls from imposters who ask you to disclose information by pretending to be fraud investigators or customer service agents calling with an urgent problem about your account. When in doubt, contact Field & Main to check the legitimacy of such calls.
  • Carry a minimum of credit cards with you. Keep credit cards that are not on your person in a safe, locked place. Do not carry your Social Security card, passport or birth certificate with you.
  • Do not lend your credit, debit or ATM card to others. Do not reveal your PIN to others. If someone asks you for a loan you are willing to make, withdraw the funds yourself rather than provide the other person with your access device and PIN.
  • Whenever possible, keep your credit card or debit card in sight when making a purchase rather than allow the sales clerk to take the card to another area.
  • When entering a PIN at an ATM or point-of-sale (POS) terminal, be alert to any person who may be trying to discover which numbers you are entering on the keypad.
  • Keep copies of your credit card or debit card slips only until you have received the statement that reflects the transaction. Always tear slips into several pieces before discarding them.
  • Always tear up applications and credit card offers, such as "pre-approved credit" offers that you receive before discarding them.
  • Always review credit card bills and bank statements immediately on receipt. Inform the bank or credit card issuer of any unauthorized transactions.
  • Notify Field & Main if you haven't received a bank statement or credit card bill when expected. Check with Field & Main to see if your mailing address has been fraudulently changed. If so, change your address and request copies of any missing statements. Examine them for unauthorized transactions.
  • Never provide your bank account, credit card, Social Security number or other personal information to unsolicited callers.
  • Do not respond to emails or telephone calls that indicate you must re-enter personal information on a website in order to verify your information. Instead, call the purported sender of the email to confirm they really need the information. Do not call a telephone number on the email without confirming that it is the correct email of the firm you are attempting to contact.
  • Do not put Social Security numbers on resumes, especially on resumes you post on Internet employment sites.
  • Keep passwords to online sites with which you do business in a safe and locked place.
  • Keep you security software current. This includes updating virus, firewall, browser and spyware software with the latest virus definitions, security patches or releases.
  • Do not use email to transmit confidential or personal information.
  • Never use the "save ID and password" option in your browser.
  • Periodically obtain a copy of your credit report from a credit reporting agency. The credit report will indicate whether any inquiries have been made about your credit. If you do not recognize the name of the person or firm making the inquiry, that may be attempted fraud. If the report indicates that credit was extended to someone whose name you do not recognize, that may be an indication that someone has successfully stolen your identity. Notify the credit reporting agency of any attempt to open a credit account in your name without your authority.
  • Notify Field & Main immediately on learning of the loss or theft of any credit card, debit card, ATM card or any other information that could be used to provide access to one of your accounts.
  • Consider registering with the major credit reporting agencies for a program they operate in connection with the Federal Trade Commission. That program permits consumers to "opt-out" of receiving offers for certain types of "pre-approved credit card" offers. The telephone number to opt out is 888.5OPT.OUT, or 888.567.8688. Consumers may exercise the opt-out right for a short or long term. Those who select the long-term option will have to send a letter confirming their choice.
